A Day at the Museum

Today we headed out as a group of 12 to go to Tate Modern. This is the modern and contemporary art museum in London. Our original plan was to take the Tube part of the way and then walk across the Thames River on the Millennium Bridge. While, construction on the Tube shut down the track we needed to get off to go across the bridge, so we weren't able to go across the river. Instead, I took a picture of the bridge from inside the museum.

While modern art is not necessarily my favorite art, there are a few highlights. There was a gallery with Andy Warhol pictures and s collection of Picasso's work. My favorite was seeing Waterlilies by Claude Monet. Here are pictures of murals that were on walls in between the galleries.

Today was bi-polar weather day. One minute it was sunny and warm, then raining, then windy and cloudy, and finally just down right cold. I think it was a good thing we weren't trying to walk across the bridge...it would have been freezing. I know that this is probably somewhat normal for London, I am just not used to it yet!

After we got back from the museum we went up to Oxford Street to run a few errands. Since we are still getting settled in there are still necessities that we all need to buy. As we approached Oxford Street we heard some music and saw a group of people. This guy was playing, basically as a whole band, using his upside down bike as the stand for everything.
